About Us

The Apple Valley Needle Threaders (AVNT) have a long history in Berryville, VA. We have met as a club since the 1980’s. Over the past 10 years, the guild has grown to over 80 members. In 2022 the club became a 501(c)(3) organization.

Guild members are committed to providing quilters of all skill levels with guidance, education, and fellowship in a non-threatening atmosphere. New members are encouraged to participate in all the club activities.  Each month a newsletter is sent to our members and friends of AVNT.  The newsletter is our tool for communicating what is happening in the guild.  You can check out the current newsletter here.

We meet in the Berryville VFW Post 9760. The room is large and well-lit with a good sound system for meetings and sewing bees. Membership is $15.00 per year. Meeting attendees donate $1.00 to offset the room rent. Members are eligible for a door prize given at each meeting.

The guild provides our members with quality speakers and instructors. The program chair looks for speakers that might appeal to many members. The speakers may be a member or someone from the quilting community. Suggestions for speakers are welcome. There are 2-3 workshops a year; we often invite speakers back to give a workshop.

There is an active charity program. Quilts and other sewn items are given to selected local and national charities. Members are provided with materials to create quilts and are also encouraged to look into their stash for quilting material. Each December a charity is selected to be recognized at the Christmas luncheon.

AVNT works with 3 other guilds to present the Northern Shenandoah Valley Quilt Show which is held biennially in Berryville, VA. Members participate on the show committee and volunteer at the show. This is a non-juried community show soliciting quilts from around the area.
